Cities of the world will discuss development scenarios
in the framework of the CITY IMAGE multiformat contest

Discussion: Modeling a development scenario of identity standards for cities and urban settlements as a cultural foundation for socio-economic growth.

Aims and objectives

To achieve a potential of city sustainable development by architectural, ecological, historic-cultural, social and economic studies;

To draw attention of federal and regional leading experts in various fields to development of achievements and solutions of city problems;

To establish professional communication making available development of new mechanisms of interaction and experience exchange between Russian and foreign cities on the interdisciplinary level;

To promote development and implementation of projects aimed at sustainable development of cities with participation of specialists and organizations of wide spectrum of professional competence;

To define principal cultural-historic and socio-economic specific features of cities, to recommend standards of identity for further successful regional development;

To develop and deliver special dedicated and analytical information using cultural resources;

To promote an inflow of investments to promising projects of city development.

Konstantin Markus, the architect, graduated from town planning faculty in "History and the architecture theory" MARCHI (Moscow Architectural Institute). Among its works –renovation and reconstruction of historical buildings in the central part of Moscow; creation of general plans and schemes of development of public functions in historical quarters of the old cities of Russia; projects of large public, office and cultural buildings and constructions. He developed research projects for the leading organizations of Moscow - Institute of reconstruction of the historical cities, Research and design institute of the General plan of Moscow, The central research institute on town planning of the Russian academy of architecture and construction sciences.

Andrei Volkov, an architect, a member of the Union of Architects of Russia. From 1984 to 1988 - the chief artist of Armavir. From 1990 to 1998 – the deputy chief architect, and in 1999 - the acting chief architect of Armavir. In 2005 he headed the “Institute of Territorial Development of the Krasnodar region”. In 2009 he dealt with issues of planning of urban development of the Moscow region in the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Moscow region. Since 2013 he has been heading the Division of coordination of territorial planning documents of the Department of Strategic Development and State Policy of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation. In 2011 he was awarded the title “The honourable architect of Russia”.
