We have the honour to invite you to our Chat room
“The International architectural dialogue throughout
the multimedia technologies” that will be held on July
6, 2005 from 10.20 a.m. till 01.00 p.m.at the ITU
Architecture Faculty Taskisla, Room B106, UIA
Congress, Istanbul, where we will present you our
CD-catalogues on architecture of Russia and Moscow.
Abstract of the presentation at the XXII UIA World
Congress of Architecture by Victor Logvinov, President
of the Union of Moscow Architects
The theme of this World congress is determined as “The
Grand Bazaar of ArchitectureS”.
The metaphorical term “Bazaar” encloses an ancient
historical tradition of collective interchange. That’s
a road crossing, a place for mixing cultures and
mysteries of the city and a non-stop social
intercourse.
Just here emerge new forms of cooperation, which are
created as soon as new communities, new associations –
sometimes intangible – do appear. Here the new
mechanisms of human relations start to act, both – in
real and in virtual space.
Russia is a vast and many-sided country with great and
varied culture. Moscow – the capital of Russia – is
one of the largest cities in the world, and owing to
its historical and geographical situation – between
Europe and Asia – it has quite peculiar architecture.
In Moscow, at all times and nowadays, very talented
architects have been working. Today, in Moscow, in
very short space of time a great deal of unique
structures has been created.
And in even shorter time we should analyze and
determine the tendencies of the development of our
city. The competitions, that we are holding, present
the increasing level of professional education and
training as well as the creative activity of
architects. Such international forums as the present
one give a possibility to compare their works with the
works of other architects throughout the world.
To our regret, such events occur not so often as we
would like, and that’s why, there is a barest
necessity to have new formats for exchanging
information – in virtual space with the help of
multimedia technologies.
We have already done several steps in this direction.
We have made the digital catalogues of the projects
and realized works, which had been laureates and
prize-winners of the professional Moscow and Russian
competitions in the field of architecture.
The Competition titled “The Golden Section” was
established by the Union of Moscow Architects ten
years ago, and this year it will be for the fifth
time, that the delivery of the highest prize of this
Competition will be awarded. The CD-catalogues of the
awarded works for all the se years are published. We
go on with making adapted archive files in the virtual
internet space. An English version of them is under
preparation.
I think that such a practice will provide
possibilities for forming a collective approach to the
solution of many professional problems of current
importance.
The idea of professional exchange in virtual space –
in a nearly real time of the projects being built all
over the world – will give a new powerful stimulus to
the architectural education and skill. It will help to
find the ways for interosculation and facilitate the
interaction of cultures by making the newest
achievements of the profession available for a wide
range of architects.
You have a possibility to prepare the information
about the web-sites presenting the architecture of
your country or your personal sites in a format: (www.title)
in order to publish it in the Russian architectural
Internet.
